Slocum TPLO
Slocum TPLO is currently the treatment of choice for the management of ruptured Cruciate Ligaments in dogs. The procedure reduces or eliminates osteoarthritic degeneration in a knee joint that would otherwise occur with a cruciate ligament rupture. We have undertaken this surgery over the last decade (in excess of 2000 patients) with very satisfying results.
The procedure is performed routinely on large breeds, however many small breeds benefit from this procedure as they commonly have very steep tibial plateaux. The more traditional type of repair would not provide for the same degree of success in these cases.
If you require any further information on Slocum TPLO please speak to your usual vet or contact us directly.
Shown below are some pictures of the equipment used during the procedure and some post-operative x-rays of patients.
